"Nor did we have authority over you or impose on you an edict or edicts; the fact is that you played the tyrant and were people given to transgression".

"Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!

we had no power over you- and you were already exceeding all limits.
we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people.
nor had we any authority over you; nay, ye were an outrageous people.
"And we had no authority over you, but you were a wayward people;
And in no way did we have any all- binding authority over you; no indeed, (but) you were an inordinate people. "
For we had no power over you to compel you; but ye were people who voluntarily transgressed:
"Also we did not have any authority over you. No, it was you who were a transgressing people!
`And we had no authority over you (to seduce you). The truth is that you yourselves were an unrestrained people (and given to excesses).
We had no authority over you. Rather you were a rebellious lot.
